Biography

Cris Hawkins is an Instrument Rated Private Pilot and Mechanical Engineering Consultant, Master Craftsman Toolmaker/Modelmaker with years of experience in design/build of specialized electric motors. His formal training is in Machine Tool Technology and he worked at NASA Ames Research Center before starting his own CNC Design/Machine Shop where he builds what he designs. Through his years of association through EAA with renowned aero design luminaries John Roncz, Ray Hicks, Roy LoPresti, Jim Griswold, Tom Hamilton and others, Cris acquired a strong working knowledge of aerodynamics and aircraft design. He has built several specialized aircraft parts for EAAers. This, and his advanced capabilities in using SolidWorks, eventuated in his designing an exciting 2-seat personal jet aircraft: http://www.hawkjet.com   Cris also has expertise in robotics, motion control, materials science, programming microcontrollers and RC helicopters. From his years of developing, building, and testing electric motors for Compumotor and other motor companies, he acquired an interest in autonomous electrically powered aircraft of the future.
